At the end of July 2024, the German company Bahnoperator Logistics, a subsidiary of the TE Germany Group, announced the upcoming opening of a branch in Italy, headquartered in Florence. While a specific date has not been set, the opening could take place from September 2024 onwards. The company also plans to open offices in Milan and Verona by 2025. TE Germany specializes in intermodal operations with a focus on rail shipments to Asia, particularly China.
The German group employs around two hundred people across Europe and Asia. In Europe, it operates in several cities including Duisburg, Nuremberg, Berlin, Poznan, and Vienna, while in China, it has offices in Xi'an, Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan, and Dalian. The company offers block trains with its own rolling stock and shipping services, including customs operations. The routes to Asia pass through Kazakhstan and along the Middle Corridor.
Currently, the company operates eight trains per week from China to Europe and six trains in the opposite direction. According to its website, the company offers transit times between Europe and Asia starting from eleven days, with rates starting at $990 for 40-foot containers, reaching 72 destinations across China and Europe.
