DAF Trucks has unveiled a series of updates for its New Generation on-road truck series, which includes the XD, XF, XG, and XG+ models. According to the Dutch manufacturer, improvements in the powertrain and aerodynamics allow for up to a 3% increase in fuel efficiency. Additionally, the new Paccar Connect fleet management system offers further tools to enhance operational efficiency. The updated models are now available for order.
The updates focus on the Paccar MX-11 and MX-13 diesel engines, which now feature an improved valve timing (Miller), upgraded cooling pump and air compressor, along with a revised turbo system and EGR. The new engines are also ready for B100 Fame biodiesel. In the powertrain, DAF has introduced a new pinion design to enhance durability and strength.
In terms of aerodynamics, side skirts are now available for Lowdeck models. Moreover, the standard equipment includes the DAF Digital Vision System, Predictive Cruise Control, a complete package of aerodynamic solutions, and low rolling resistance tires—all aimed at reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Another significant update is the ten-year subscription to the Paccar Connect system, which allows real-time fleet management and optimizes operational efficiency. This system also enables over-the-air vehicle updates. It includes the new Truck Navigation app, which allows for comprehensive route planning, including first and last-mile details, directly on the truck's display.
