Renault Trucks has announced that the new Renault Trucks E-Tech T electric road tractor, featuring an extended range of up to 600 kilometres on a single charge, will go on sale in 2025. This enhancement is made possible through the integration of the new e-axle, which consolidates the transmission system components (electric motors and gearbox) at the rear of the vehicle, thereby freeing space between the chassis rails to accommodate additional battery packs.
Designed for long-distance transport, the Renault Trucks E-Tech T with increased range will complement the manufacturer’s electric line-up without replacing current solutions. Renault Trucks also stated that it will continue to offer different ranges, configurations, and equipment options to cater to the varied needs of haulage companies. To help customers find the ideal solution, the company offers advanced simulation tools that enable the configuration of each electric truck according to specific requirements.
“We believe that a range of 600 kilometres on a single charge, along with the development of public charging infrastructure networks by 2026—particularly through our joint venture Milence—will allow us to achieve operational parity with the diesel technologies our customers expect,” said Emmanuel Duperray, Senior Vice President of Electric Mobility at Renault Trucks. “This approach already allows us to achieve daily distances of over 700 kilometres with our series-production Renault Trucks E-Tech T.”
He added, “We do not wish to participate in the race for range. Oversized batteries reduce payload capacity, increase the total cost of ownership, and exacerbate environmental impact. An electric truck is inherently more expensive than a combustion vehicle. We need to rethink carbon-free logistics by reconsidering transport plans to intensify vehicle usage and reduce the cost per kilometre.”
