From 1 January 2025, Switzerland will impose a five per cent increase on the Ttpcp road toll applied to industrial vehicles. The toll amount is calculated based on the vehicle's total weight, environmental class, and the number of kilometres driven within Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The new rates will be as follows: for vehicles in Euro categories 0 to V, the rate will be 3.26 Swiss centimes (approximately 3.4 euro cents) per tonne-kilometre, while for Euro VI vehicles it will decrease to 2.39 Swiss centimes (approximately 2.26 euro cents) per tonne-kilometre. For instance, an 18-tonne Euro VI vehicle travelling 100 kilometres will pay a toll of 43.05 Swiss francs (equivalent to 46.29 euros).
The new scheme will no longer offer incentives for vehicles equipped with particulate filters, marking a significant change from previous policies. The Ttpcp toll applies to industrial vehicles with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes, registered both in Switzerland and abroad, that use the public road network in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. For articulated lorries with tractors and trailers registered in different locations, the toll is calculated by adding the tractor's tare weight to the trailer's gross weight.
Exemptions from the toll include vehicles involved in unaccompanied combined road-rail transport, raw timber transportation, milk tanker transport, and livestock haulage, which will continue to benefit from specific reductions and treatment.
