On 11 December 2024, Maersk commenced operations at its first French logistics hub, strategically situated in Denain, at the heart of one of Europe’s leading logistics clusters. The facility serves a global e-commerce giant, whose identity the Danish company has not disclosed. Covering 75,000 square metres, the warehouse is part of the GLP Park Denain, a logistics complex of approximately 100,000 square metres in the Hauts-de-France region, near Lille.
This area is among the most significant in France for logistics employment, with around 500,000 people residing within a 30-minute radius of the site. Its strategic location provides immediate access to twelve motorways, rail connections, and the Grand Canal de l’Escaut, making it a key hub for distribution across Europe.
The facility is equipped with advanced technologies, including 85 loading docks, an automatic docking system (Autodocks), a clear ceiling height of 11.40 metres, and a floor load capacity of 5 t/m². Additionally, it features a dedicated circulation area separating heavy goods vehicles from lighter vehicles. The complex has achieved the BREEAM Very Good certification.
With the launch of the Denain warehouse, Maersk strengthens its presence in Europe, offering storage and distribution services across 15 European countries as part of its global network. This development follows the opening of the Fredericia warehouse in Denmark during the summer of 2024. “The debut of this new facility marks a milestone for Maersk in France, taking our logistics capabilities to an entirely new level in this key market,” said Michele Cohonner, Regional Head of Maersk Contract Logistics in Europe.
