BASF has released AdBlue ZeroPcf onto the market, the first product of its kind with a certified carbon footprint of less than 0.05 kg per kilogram. This product represents a significant stride towards reducing environmental impact in the transportation sectors, offering customers an opportunity to significantly lower their CO2 footprint. AdBlue ZeroPcf is produced using renewable energy and raw materials following a mass balance approach and has received product carbon footprint (PCF) certification from TÜV Rheinland based on the ISO 14067:2018 standard. This innovative approach is further certified by REDcert2, a certification system for biomass, confirming AdBlue ZeroPCF's compliance with the required mass balance specifications.
The standardization for fossil products in Europe specifies a minimum value of 0.4 kg of CO2 per kilogram, making AdBlue ZeroPcf a more sustainable solution now also available for rail transport, enabling companies to reduce their Scope 3.1 footprint, i.e., emissions from purchased goods and services. For end-user diesel vehicles, AdBlue ZeroPcf is available in all standard packaging sizes, including the five-liter container.
