In May 2024, Volvo Trucks announced the expansion of its range of industrial vehicles that can use B100 biodiesel, aligning with the company's strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of its trucks. This fuel will be available for a wide selection of engines in the Volvo FL, FE, FM, FMX, FH, and FH16 models. In addition to B100, Volvo's industrial vehicles can also run on HVO and biogas.
"Our customers are asking for solutions to reduce their carbon emissions, and renewable fuels are an interesting option: it's simply an efficient way to reduce CO2 emissions from transport here and now," said Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management and Quality at Volvo Trucks. Hjelmgren emphasized that Volvo needs to meet a wide range of transport needs and market conditions because it operates globally. "That's why we invest not only in new technologies but also in solutions that decarbonize transport in both the short and long term," he added.
