On May 21, 2024, Fercam announced its expansion in Asia through the opening of a branch in New Delhi. The company, named Fercam India Pvt, will oversee the entire Indian subcontinent starting June 1 under the leadership of Director Vishal Sign, who reports to Fercam's Air & Ocean Manager, Jury Michelozzi. "We decided to focus initially on New Delhi as a natural choice due to the significant traffic volumes and the economic importance of the district. Today we offer consolidated air and sea services, and having our own staff on-site will allow us to be closer to our clients' needs," explains Jury Michelozzi.
This is the first step in India, as Fercam announces plans to open offices in Mumbai, Calcutta, and Chennai in the short to medium term: "These are the main industrial hubs in India, allowing us to cover the entire country with our direct presence," adds Michelozzi. The Indian economy is constantly growing and, according to the International Monetary Fund, the country is set to become the world's third-largest economy in terms of GDP.
The growth in production is also driving the transportation and logistics sectors, both nationally and internationally. "Our goal is to develop where the economy is growing and, consequently, where the demand for logistics and shipping services is vibrant," explains Hannes Baumgartner, CEO of Fercam. "We already serve many clients active in the Indian market with our sea and air divisions in Europe, managing imports and exports for Indian manufacturers. This initial investment in India is the right consequence of our strategy to always be close to our clients and the market, with local employees who understand the area's specifics, thereby ensuring the highest possible quality and reliability of our services."
