Milence, the joint venture created by Daimler Truck, Traton Group, and Volvo Group to build a European network of electric charging stations for industrial vehicles, has announced its entry into Italy with its first station set to be operational in Lombardy by the third quarter of 2024. Located in Bagnolo San Vito, in the province of Mantua, it will be strategically placed along the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor. The company has already established charging facilities for industrial vehicles in the Benelux region, France, Germany, and Sweden.
The development of the Mantua facility will proceed in multiple phases. The first one includes the installation of four Combined Charging System columns, which will power five bays with a maximum output of 400 kW per stall. Subsequently, stations equipped with the more powerful Megawatt Charging System columns will be added as soon as this technology becomes available. The station will be easily recognizable by the distinctive Milence arch and will be secured with gates to ensure safety. Inside, drivers will have access to services for a comfortable break during charging.
By 2027, Milence aims to have at least 1,700 high-performance charging points across Europe. With an initial focus on fifteen markets and operational facilities already established in various locations, the company is expanding its network to ensure that heavy electric vehicles can operate seamlessly across the continent. Founded in July 2022, Milence operates as an independent company with an initial funding of 500 million euros.
