On July 11, 2024, Swiss WorldCargo announced the signing of a contract with Worldwide Flight Services for the management of cargo at Malpensa's cargo city, with an expected annual handling of two thousand tonnes. WFS will support the twenty-eight weekly flights operated by Swiss WorldCargo at the Lombard airport, utilizing Airbus A320/321 and Embraer aircraft. Additionally, Swiss WorldCargo customers will continue to benefit from road transport between Milan and Zurich six days a week.
A long-standing global client of WFS, Swiss WorldCargo has chosen to extend its collaboration to Malpensa due to WFS's cargo management facilities and its ability to provide dedicated solutions for high-value, delicate, and temperature-sensitive shipments. Currently, WFS serves Swiss WorldCargo in major airports across North and South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
"The quality of Swiss WorldCargo's products and services is highly respected in the industry, and we appreciate the cargo division's trust in our ability to meet these high standards," commented Massimiliano Introini, Managing Director of WFS Italy. "To support our service offering, in addition to investing in our warehouse terminal, we have implemented digitalized processes and will add further equipment to enhance our ULD and Pharma handling capabilities."
Christian Wyss, Head of Cargo Offering Development & Steering at Swiss International Air Lines, added, "With a significant number of weekly flights and tonnes of cargo transported between Milan and Zurich, we need a partner who knows our business well and can operate to the high quality standards we offer our customers globally. WFS is capable of doing this."
