On July 17, 2024, Rhenus Logistics announced the enhancement of its Italian operations with the inauguration of two facilities in Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy. The new infrastructures are located in Castel San Pietro, near Bologna, and Casei Gerola, in the province of Pavia. These facilities enable Rhenus Overland Italia to provide integrated logistics solutions, ranging from storage to land freight transport, with an international network and specialized national distribution and home delivery services. Among these services are two-man handling, assembly, and installation.
The Castel San Pietro platform facilitates both domestic and international traffic, thanks to its direct connection with northern and southern Italy. The Casei Gerola facility, located near major northern highway junctions and seaports, offers a complete range of supply chain services, including sea and road transport (groupage, FTL, LTL), storage, warehousing activities, national distribution, and last-mile deliveries. These new structures are also designed to be sustainable, operating in LEED Gold and Platinum certified buildings.
"The opening of the two new branches in Castel San Pietro and Casei Gerola represents a strategic decision for us, allowing us to be closer to the needs of our customers," said CEO Guglielmo Davide Tassone, Regional Manager South-East Europe – Overland Division of Rhenus Logistics. "Integrating all our services is essential for creating economies of scale and optimizing processes. We have decided to focus our investments on strategic areas of the Italian market and beyond. This business model significantly improves operational efficiency, enabling us to offer complete solutions for all the needs of an integrated supply chain."
