TerAlp, part of the FS Group's Logistics Hub and co-owned by Mercitalia Logistics and Hupac, has entered into a significant agreement with Kuenz, an Austrian company, for the provision of six electric gantry cranes. These cranes will be installed at the Milano Smistamento rail terminal in Segrate, which is currently undergoing expansion.
The terminal, occupying an area of approximately 240,000 square meters, is being developed with an investment of around 115 million euros, partially funded by the Swiss Government. The phased activation of the terminal is scheduled to begin in 2026. Once fully operational, the facility will have a maximum capacity of handling 22 pairs of trains per day and approximately 395,000 intermodal units annually.
