On July 30, 2024, Dachser announced the completion of its acquisition of the Brummer Group, solidifying its presence in the European food logistics market. The Brummer Group, a prominent German-Austrian company in the food logistics sector, is now fully owned by Dachser and will be integrated into the company's European network, which specializes in the transportation and storage of temperature-controlled foods.
The acquisition, initially announced last April, was aimed at expanding Dachser's food logistics network in Austria and neighboring countries. After receiving approval from competition authorities in Germany and Austria, the acquisition has been finalized, allowing the integration of Brummer Group into Dachser's network to begin. This acquisition includes Brummer Logistik in Germany and Brummer Logistic Solutions in Austria, covering the entire operational scope of the group.
Brummer, known for its transportation, warehousing, and third-party logistics services, specializes in the food sector, with a particular focus on frozen products that require temperatures below -18°C. "With this acquisition, along with the recent acquisitions of Müller Fresh Food Logistics in the Netherlands and Frigoscandia in Northern Europe, we are strengthening our position as a leader in food logistics in Europe," stated Burkhard Eling, CEO of Dachser.
The Brummer Group, a founding member of the European Food Network in 2013, provides network coverage for the transportation of food groups across Europe, operating in 34 countries. Brummer's operational activities include over 300 owned refrigerated trucks, approximately 85,000 square meters of storage space, and an e-commerce center in Sankt Marienkirchen. In 2023, the group generated revenue of around 128 million euros. As part of the transaction, nearly all of the approximately 950 employees from the two border-adjacent locations in Neuburg am Inn, Germany, and Sankt Marienkirchen, near Schärding, Austria, have been transferred to Dachser.
