On August 27, 2024, CMA CGM Air Cargo announced the launch of new connections between Asia and America, with the first flight taking place on August 25 between Hong Kong and Chicago, including a technical stop in Anchorage. On its return journey, the aircraft made a stopover in Seoul. This expansion follows Boeing's delivery of a third B777-200F, operated by Atlas Air. The French company stated that the arrival of an additional B777F, expected in the fourth quarter of 2024, will further strengthen this transpacific route, offering customers seven weekly frequencies between mainland China and North America. By 2025, another aircraft will join the fleet, further extending capacity and coverage for customers.
Damien Mazaudier, CEO of CMA CGM Air Cargo, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating: "We are very proud to extend the reach of CMA CGM Air Cargo to the United States, a strategic country for the Group. This opening, along with the delivery of a third B777 Freighter, allows us to serve our customers on new routes across the Pacific and to respond to evolving market dynamics. This new asset also contributes to greater sustainability in air cargo transportation, in line with the CMA CGM Group's ambitions."
