The Rhenus Group has officially announced the appointment of Gilles Delarue as its new Chief Financial Officer and member of the Management Board, marking a new chapter in the company's financial management. The handover took place on September 1, 2024. Delarue replaces Egbert Bernsmeister, who stepped down after more than thirteen years to become CFO at Saria, another company within the Rethmann Group, and to join the Supervisory Board of Transdev, strengthening his presence in the group's strategic sectors.
Gilles Delarue, who previously held the roles of Head of Group Shareholdings International and Group Compliance Officer at Rhenus, brings over fifteen years of managerial experience within the company. Starting his career at Saria in 1998, Delarue has gained extensive knowledge in financial and managerial sectors, skills he will now bring to his new position at Rhenus. He takes over a company that has grown globally, following Bernsmeister’s leadership, which transformed Rhenus from a European operator into an international giant.
In his new role, Delarue will oversee several key areas of the Rhenus Group's financial division, including Mergers and Acquisitions, Finance, Management Control, Corporate Development, Legal, Compliance, and Insurance. This wide range of responsibilities highlights the significance of his appointment at a crucial time for the group’s sustainable growth.
"We are pleased to welcome Gilles Delarue as our new CFO. His international experience and deep understanding of our company's strategic goals and challenges make him uniquely qualified for this role," commented Marco Schröter, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Rhenus. "I would also like to thank Egbert Bernsmeister for his significant contribution to Rhenus' profitable growth. His leadership has transformed our company into a global force in the logistics sector."
