Volvo Trucks has announced a new version of its FH Electric truck, capable of traveling up to 600 kilometers on a single charge, which will be available in the market in the second half of 2025. The key technological advancement enabling this extended range is the new “e-axle” drivetrain, which integrates higher-capacity batteries. Additionally, Volvo has enhanced the overall efficiency of the powertrain and introduced an advanced battery management system, both critical to maximizing the duration of each charge.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, emphasized the significance of this new vehicle for the future of sustainable transport: "Our new electric flagship will be an excellent addition to our wide range of electric vehicles, enabling zero-emission transport even over longer distances. It will be an ideal solution for transport companies with high annual mileage, allowing them to significantly reduce CO2 emissions."
Volvo Trucks currently offers eight electric truck models on the market and has delivered over 3,800 units in 46 countries. “In addition to the significant environmental benefits, electric vehicles provide drivers with a better working environment, with much lower levels of noise and vibration,” added Alm. Volvo has set a target of achieving zero emissions by 2040, following a technological strategy based on three pillars: battery-electric motors, fuel cell electric motors, and combustion engines powered by renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, or HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil).
