On September 5, 2024, Daimler Truck announced a significant leadership change: the Supervisory Board appointed Karin Rådström as the new CEO, effective October 1, 2024. Rådström will succeed Martin Daum, who has led the company for several years and will remain active until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. Rådström, who will temporarily retain responsibility for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, will lead Daimler Truck until January 2029, with the goal of solidifying the company’s position as a leader in mobility transformation.
In a statement, Daimler Truck explained that this appointment marks the beginning of a new phase of transformation and innovation for the company. Outgoing CEO Martin Daum, a pivotal figure in the company's evolution from a multinational division to a publicly traded entity on the DAX, is stepping down after nearly forty years of service. Daum played a key role in the company's economic success and global reputation, steering the transition towards more sustainable technological solutions, such as electric and hydrogen-powered drivetrains.
Karin Rådström is no stranger to the industry. Since joining Daimler Truck’s Board of Management in 2021, she has led the Mercedes-Benz Trucks division, driving the introduction of a range of electric vehicles with a strong focus on customer service and advanced offerings. Prior to her role at Daimler Truck, Rådström gained significant experience as Senior Vice President at Scania, where she oversaw sales and marketing.
