On August 30, 2024, the Italian Minister of Transport signed a Ministerial Decree that allocates eight million euros to develop the digitalization of sixteen freight terminals considered of national importance, based on the interoperability standards of the National Digital Logistics Platform. The ministerial decree, number 224, signed on August 30, 2024, distributes resources from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to enhance the digitalization of sixteen key freight terminals.
These funds are earmarked to co-finance the development and implementation of IT systems at these terminals, adhering to the interoperability standards set by the National Digital Logistics Platform. The total amount of funding is 8,269,104 euros, with variable sums allocated to each terminal, the largest of which goes to Padua, receiving 2,720,000 euros.
Here is the list of funded freight terminals: Padua: 2,720,000 euros - Bologna: 841,498 euros - Turin: 609,749 euros - Prato: 548,222 euros - Verona: 512,250 euros - Venice: 400,448 euros - Nola: 373,994 euros - Parma: 372,500 euros - Livorno: 379,498.50 euros - Trieste: 347,500 euros - Pescara: 324,448 euros - Portogruaro: 307,500 euros - Novara: 232,248 euros - Orte: 115,250 euros - Trento: 117,149 euros - Cervignano: 66,850 euros.
The funding will be disbursed based on the progress of the work and upon presentation of the appropriate documentation. An initial portion of 10-30% will be released upfront, followed by intermediate installments up to 90% of the total allocation. The remaining balance will be paid upon project completion. Should actual costs fall below estimated amounts, the funding will be proportionally reduced.
Freight terminals are required to use the funds in alignment with the established goals, adhere to project timelines, and ensure compliance with the "Do No Significant Harm" principle, which mandates that no significant environmental harm is caused. Regular reports on project progress will be required, alongside monitoring and oversight to ensure the project's successful implementation.
