TX Logistik, the German rail company controlled by the FS Group, and the freight car leasing company Wascosa have signed a deal to expand their partnership. The new agreement, announced on September 11, 2024, focuses on further developing the NiKRASA system, which allows non-craneable trailers to be loaded onto trains, thus facilitating the shift of freight from road to rail. The deal includes an initial order from Wascosa for 125 NiKRASA modules, valued at approximately three million euros.
The NiKRASA system was designed to enable quick and easy loading of non-craneable semi-trailers, which currently make up 90% of truck fleets in Europe. The technology allows trailers to be transferred from road to rail in just two minutes, without the need for modifications to terminal or railcar infrastructure. This platform can handle a wide range of trailers, including silos, fixed-body trailers, megatrailers, and container frames.
"With the NiKRASA system, we aim to contribute to climate goals by facilitating the shift of goods from road to rail," said Ugo Dibennardo, CEO of TX Logistik. "This agreement marks an important step in our growth strategy and allows us to further develop innovative transport solutions together with Wascosa and other partners."
"The NiKRASA solution perfectly aligns with our market strategy, offering added value to our customers and supporting the transition to rail," added Iris Hilb, CEO of Wascosa. "In the future, we plan to offer this system as a new standard service for leasing our freight cars, making it easier for shippers to enter the world of combined transport."
