The Rossini Group has launched a logistics platform in Seriate, Bergamo, following a €5 million investment. The new facility, which consolidates the previous operations in Seriate and Carpi, was constructed within just eight months, from January to August 2024. Equipped with the AutoStore system, this warehouse represents a significant technological advancement for Rossini, improving both operational efficiency and space utilization. Featuring fourteen levels of storage and a capacity of 32,000 bins, the system is operated by 24 robots, enabling up to five times the storage volume of a traditional warehouse.
Efficiency extends beyond space optimization: the semi-automated system incorporates a unique interaction between robots and human operators. While robots manage material handling, final order assembly is performed by human operators, ensuring precision and flexibility. Customers can place orders directly through a B2B portal, which routes them to the AutoStore system for automated processing, including packaging, weighing, labeling, and sorting.
Another key innovation at the new facility is the cluster picking system, which allows the simultaneous preparation of up to four orders, reducing fulfillment times. With the capability to operate 24/7, the warehouse can promptly meet market demands. The facility runs on two daily shifts, supported by overnight robotic operations, ensuring immediate product availability each morning and further optimizing order preparation.
