On October 24, 2024, Gruber Logistics announced an agreement with Juna, a joint venture between Scania and sennder, to utilize electric trucks from the Swedish manufacturer under Juna's "e-truck-as-a-service" model. This model provides not only the vehicles but also all necessary services for their operation, such as repair, maintenance, insurance, and electrification support. This approach, explained the company in a statement, allows Gruber Logistics to electrify its fleet without having to purchase the trucks outright, significantly lowering the entry threshold for adopting this technology.
Gruber Logistics is already using two electric trucks provided by Juna to serve a German customer. Stefan Knapp, Executive Director of the Gruber Logistics fleet, commented, "Part of Gruber Logistics' sustainability strategy is to remain constantly open to new solutions for decarbonizing heavy freight transport. Thanks to Juna's flexible model, we can quickly offer our customers a solution to reduce emissions directly within the supply chain. In addition to the rapid implementation option compared to purchasing an electric truck, the flexible pricing model also represents an advantage for us."
