More than just a robbery, it was a full-scale military-style attack. The DHL warehouse in Monticelli d'Ongina, on the outskirts of Piacenza, was targeted by a group of at least fifteen criminals divided into three operational teams, all armed with assault rifles. The assault was carried out in multiple stages. First, the gang blocked access to the warehouse by scattering the roads with three-pointed nails and setting several stolen vehicles on fire.
The main action began when they rammed through the entrance gate and threatened the two security guards with assault rifles. Once inside, they focused on high-value goods, including electronics such as tablets and mobile phones. Due to their precise targeting, investigators suspect the gang may have had an accomplice inside the facility. After loading up the loot – valued at around one million euros – the robbers fled towards Cremona and the nearby highway.
