DB Cargo transports L'Oréal products
L'Oréal renews its collaboration with DB Cargo for the sustainable transportation of its products, aiming to reduce its environmental impact. For four years now, the multinational has used Full Load Solutions' services to weekly transport creams, shampoos, and shower gels from its Muggensturm distribution center to Mannheim, then onwards to Switzerland by rail. This logistics system can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90%, while also decreasing empty transport runs and ramp usage. The collaboration between L'Oréal and DB Cargo will further expand, incorporating alternative technologies such as HVO biodiesel.
Rail bypass at the port of Bilbao
The Spanish Ministry of Transport has approved the construction of a rail bypass to facilitate freight traffic to and from the Port of Bilbao, avoiding passage through urban centers in the Greater Bilbao area. The project involves building a new 12-kilometer railway line, with an estimated cost of €484.7 million. This new infrastructure aims to improve access to the port while reducing the impact of rail traffic in residential areas.
Rail hub work in Česká Třebová
The Czech Republic could start modernization work on the rail hub in Česká Třebová, near the Polish border, as early as next year. The project has obtained construction permits, and once the tender process for assigning the work is complete, operations can begin. This long-awaited redevelopment comes after the last major work done in the 1960s.
Assologistica meets Florida ports
Assologistica met with a delegation from Florida’s ports, led by Secretary of Transportation Jared Perdue, signing a memorandum of understanding for future collaboration. The agreement aims to develop international trade, adopt best operational practices, streamline customs procedures, and promote joint training programs. “We are extremely pleased with this meeting,” said Umberto Ruggerone, president of Assologistica, highlighting the opportunities for members and clients stemming from an agreement with one of the most active states on the US East Coast. The event strengthens the strategic role of Italy and Florida in transatlantic trade.
Koper expands container terminal
Slovenian company Kolektor will carry out the expansion of the container terminal pier at the Port of Koper. After three postponed tenders, Kolektor was the only company to submit a bid. The project, valued at €186.6 million, includes dredging access to the terminal, as well as constructing warehouses and infrastructure. If completed on schedule, the works will be finished by 2027, increasing the terminal's capacity to 1.75 million TEUs.
Bari truck route approved
The Bari City Council has approved, with 22 votes in favor and 2 against, the new Truck Route that will connect the city port to the A14 motorway. The project, with a cost of €216 million, will span 10 kilometers, enabling industrial vehicles to reach the motorway in 20 minutes, thereby reducing traffic and pollution. The project includes roundabouts, a tunnel, underpasses, and a viaduct over the Lamasinata canal.
