Duvenbeck shifts to zero-emission mobility for ZF Saarbrücken
Duvenbeck Group has completed the transition to alternative, zero-emission drive systems for its entire fleet operating for ZF Saarbrücken. From now on, none of the vehicles used for the automotive parts supplier will consume conventional diesel fuel. The initiative, launched in 2020 with the introduction of liquefied natural gas, was followed by a shift to biomethane. In 2023, the first five battery electric trucks began servicing routes between the production site and an external warehouse. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to achieving zero-impact logistics in line with ZF’s sustainability goals.
Telepass in Denmark becomes first EETS-Certified operator
Telepass has become the first operator to obtain EETS certification in Denmark, enabling the electronic collection of tolls across the country’s road network. From 1 January 2025, the Telepass Sat device will be usable on 10,900 km of toll roads in Denmark, with plans for an expansion to 75,000 km by 2028. This milestone extends Telepass’ presence across 17 European countries, facilitating payments for commercial vehicles throughout Europe.
Rina supports Hafeet Rail Project connecting UAE and Oman
Rina, the multinational inspection and engineering consultancy group, has been selected to support the Hafeet Rail project, a 300 km railway linking the United Arab Emirates and Oman. As a system integrator, Rina will oversee the integration of rail subsystems, including signalling and telecommunications, and supervise the implementation of the Level 2 ETCS signalling system. The project, linking Abu Dhabi and Sohar, will reduce travel time to just 100 minutes and allow the transportation of 15,000 tonnes of goods per journey. The new infrastructure will enhance the strategic logistical positioning of both nations.
Circle expands role in Raise Project for sustainable ports
Circle has announced an expansion of its involvement in the "Automated Systems and AI Tools for Optimal Management of Port Traffic Flows" project within the Raise ecosystem. Already part of Spoke 4, the company will focus on developing solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability at ports. With additional funding of over €50,000, Circle will extend the use of the Milos Tracking Federative Platform to manage port traffic flows and gather real-time data, such as monitoring road traffic and cargo and empty container operations.
Challenge Group expands fleet with Boeing 747-400F
Challenge Group has added a Boeing 747-400F to its fleet, registered under the Belgian AOC. This aircraft, part of a global expansion strategy, brings the company’s total fleet to ten aircraft, including six Boeing 747-400Fs and four Boeing 767-300Fs, tripling its fleet in under three years. The new addition will help increase capacity and frequency, meeting the growing demand for cargo transport, particularly for e-commerce from China and transatlantic trade.
Turkish Airlines expands air cargo operations in South America
Mexico City's Felipe Ángeles International Airport is set to welcome a new weekly cargo operation from Turkish Airlines, connecting Istanbul to Mexico City with a stopover in the United States, starting in January or February 2025. The Boeing 777 freighter will carry between 25 and 35 tonnes of goods, with plans to add a second weekly flight. International cargo volumes at Felipe Ángeles have surged, with a 224.7% increase in the first ten months of 2023, while Benito Juárez Airport saw a 51.5% drop in tonnage.
First automated cranes arrive at Hamburg's CTA Terminal
The Altenwerder Container Terminal at Hamburg Hafen und Logistik has received three automated gantry cranes, the first of their kind at the port. Delivered on 14 December 2024, these cranes are designed to increase efficiency in loading and unloading vessels. Standing up to 120 metres high with a reach of about 70 metres, they can handle vessels up to 16,000 TEU. The cranes will gradually become operational by the end of 2025, marking an important step towards full automation of the terminal. This investment is part of HHLA's modernisation plan.
