In December 2024, Cathay Pacific announced plans to expand its European network, including the introduction of a daily service between Milan Malpensa and Hong Kong, starting on 30 March 2025. This development is part of a broader growth strategy that includes new routes to Munich and Brussels, aimed at solidifying the airline's position as a leading choice for European travellers heading to Asia. The reinstatement of the daily Milan-Hong Kong flight is a significant milestone in Cathay Pacific’s European expansion. Previously suspended, this route is now being reintroduced with daily frequencies, greatly improving connectivity between Italy and the heart of Asia. The direct flight will offer Italian travellers access to a wide range of international destinations, with convenient connections to major cities across Asia.
In addition to the resumption of the Hong Kong service, Cathay Pacific is further extending its European network with two new routes. Starting 16 June 2025, the airline will operate direct flights between Munich and Hong Kong, with four weekly frequencies. This new service marks Cathay Pacific’s entry into one of Germany’s major cities, further strengthening its presence in the country, where the airline already operates daily flights to Frankfurt. Belgium will also see an expansion, with the return of flights to and from Brussels, beginning 3 August 2025.
The airline’s expansion is not limited to passenger flights. The cargo sector is also set to benefit from enhanced operations, with Cathay Cargo planning to operate seven weekly flights between Europe and Asia. This will support international trade and ensure greater efficiency in cargo transport operations.
