MAN Italy achieves a 9.5% market share in the truck sector
MAN Italy closed 2024 with a 9.5% market share in the heavy-duty vehicle segment above six tonnes. Despite a slight market decline, the German manufacturer reported a 17% increase in registrations compared to 2023. David Siviero, Sales and Product Director of MAN Italy, highlighted the key role played by the team and network in reaching this milestone: “2024 confirms our ability to respond to market challenges. We are ready to tackle 2025 and lead the energy transition with innovative and sustainable solutions.”
Covestro and DB Cargo Btt partner for sustainable chemical transport to Poland
Covestro, a global leader in polymer production, has teamed up with DB Cargo Btt to implement a more sustainable method for transporting methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) to Poland. By combining HVO 100 biofuel-powered trucks with rail transport, the initiative reduces CO2 emissions by 70% compared to traditional methods. The collaboration also involves companies like Selena Group, a beneficiary of low-impact MDI transport, essential for manufacturing more sustainable insulating materials.
Two new logistics hubs in Tuscany
Two new logistics platforms have been established in Tuscany. Campi Bisenzio now hosts the largest frozen food logistics hub in Central Italy, covering 14,000 square metres with 20,000 pallet spaces. The €23.5 million investment by Emme Gel, part of the Martelli Group, will save 30% on energy and create ten jobs. Meanwhile, Baker Hughes-Nuovo Pignone has relocated its mega logistics centre project to Perignano (Pisa), utilising existing facilities from the Cromwell fund. The total investment exceeds €110 million and is expected to generate 300 jobs.
LocoItalia enhances fleet with a new Siemens Vectron
LocoItalia has announced the acquisition of a Siemens Vectron E193 "DAI-East" electric locomotive, valued at approximately €5 million. This purchase brings the company’s total investments over six years to more than €35 million. The new locomotive, interoperable across 13 European countries, increases LocoItalia’s fleet of electric locomotives to eight.
TAP Air Portugal earns IEnvA environmental certification
TAP Air Portugal and Portugália Airlines have achieved the IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) certification. Based on ISO 14001 standards, this certification acknowledges the adoption of eco-friendly practices across global operations and corporate facilities in Portugal. Sustainable initiatives include fleet renewal with more efficient aircraft, replacing company vehicles with electric models, and introducing SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) on European flights.
