During the presentation of the ICCSAI Transport and Sustainable Mobility Fact Book 2024, held on October 18, 2024, in Florence, Nazzarena Franco, CEO of DHL Express Italy, revealed that the company is investing €180 million in its Italian airport infrastructure. The initiative began in 2020 and has so far involved Pisa, Malpensa, Naples, and Bologna airports, with future developments planned for Rome and Venice. "Airport gateways and the entire airport operation are of fundamental importance for DHL Express, as they enable us to offer our international express air service, connecting Italian businesses and the Made in Italy brand to the world," Franco stated.
Franco added that "the role of Italian airports is crucial in this context: infrastructure and services that ensure the smooth flow of logistics and the competitiveness of our system are key elements in speeding up shipping and delivery processes, reducing time and costs, and facilitating the internationalization of companies within the Italian industrial fabric."
According to data from the Customs and Monopolies Agency, 25% of extra-EU exports are managed by international express couriers. DHL Express Italy operates with 77 service centers, providing connections to 220 countries. Thanks to a team of experts in commercial, customs, and customer service matters, the company supports small and medium-sized enterprises.
