The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) took part in the billion-euro bidding process for acquiring Germany's DB Schenker, which was ultimately sold to Denmark's DSV. Despite this, the Saudi company intends to explore other acquisition opportunities in the logistics sector across Europe and the United States, potentially committing up to three billion euros, or even more if particularly promising prospects arise, sources close to the group stated.
It is worth noting that Bahri had made an offer of 15 billion euros for DB Schenker, but withdrew it in July 2024 without providing an explanation. Bahri has a market capitalization of 20.7 billion SAR (approximately 5.1 billion euros). Among its major shareholders are Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, with a 22.55% stake, and the Saudi Aramco Development Company, which holds 20%, as reported on the company’s official website. Founded in 1978, Bahri operates in logistics and maritime transport, offering services ranging from the shipping of dry and liquid cargo to container transport and integrated logistics solutions.
