In a significant move into the media and entertainment sector, CMA CGM signed an agreement with Altice France to acquire Altice Media, a leading provider of multimedia information and entertainment. The deal, valued at 1.55 billion euros, marks CMA CGM's ambitious foray into multimedia information and entertainment.
Altice France announced the agreement on March 15, 2024, spotlighting the acquisition of Altice Media, considered the foremost French information group with extensive assets in television, radio, and digital domains. Among its notable properties are Radio Montecarlo and the television network BFM. Altice Media boasts a portfolio that includes five national TV channels, ten local stations, three radio broadcasters, and twenty digital applications.
Employing 1,700 individuals, including 900 journalists, Altice Media is recognized for its substantial content production, annually delivering 6,000 hours of documentaries and producing 35,000 podcasts. The company reported a turnover of 362 million euros and an EBITDA of 112 million euros. This strategic acquisition propels CMA CGM into a pivotal role within the French multimedia landscape, underscoring the shipping giant's diversification into information and entertainment sectors.
