Tom Eckelmann, a board member and shareholder of Contship Italia, toured the Group's facilities in Melzo and La Spezia, and on this occasion reaffirmed the support of Eurokai, the German holding company of which he is a part, for the Italian firm. Specifically, Eckelmann revealed further investments in the La Spezia Container Terminal: an infusion of 50 million euros, adding to the 250 million euros previously designated for the construction of the new Ravano pier.
The new investment plan, set to be completed within the next two years, aims to strengthen the Fornelli pier and modernize infrastructure with the acquisition of cutting-edge equipment. Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of Contship Italia Group, expressed optimism: "The environment we operate in is extremely dynamic and competitive. The new investment plan is a clear signal of the shareholders' commitment to not only develop the terminal but also support all Group activities. This will allow us to further enhance our operational capacity and improve the level of service offered to our clients." The meetings also paid tribute to Cecilia Eckelmann Battistello, the recently deceased president of the Contship Italia Group.
