On April 11, 2024, Dachser announced it had formalized the acquisition of the majority stake in the Dachser & Fercam Italia joint venture, securing 80% of the company, while Fercam retains the remaining 20%. The joint venture has taken over the operations of Fercam's Distribution and Logistics divisions, while the latter retains its Transport, Air & Ocean, Special Services activities, and all its foreign subsidiaries. The two divested divisions employ nearly a thousand employees across 43 branches in Italy, now operating as an independent entity.
This move marks a significant step in Dachser's expansion journey, aimed at consolidating its European distribution network. Other recent acquisitions in this direction include Graveleau in France and Azkar in Spain. "The Dachser & Fercam Italia joint venture is crucial to complete our European network in the transport and storage of industrial and consumer goods,” explains Burkhard Eling, CEO of Dachser. “This significantly strengthens our capacity and expertise in serving customers throughout Europe with uniform quality and performance standards. We plan further investments in logistic capacity, digitalization, and climate protection in Italy, with a particular focus also on the development of our human capital."
