The distribution network of DHL Express Italy is further expanded with the launch of the Rho platform, inaugurated on April 17, 2024. The facility, representing an investment of 17 million euros, serves the northern Milan area and the region straddling the provinces of Milan and Varese, bordered by the Ticino and Olona rivers and Saronno. This area is one of the highest concentrations of small and medium-sized enterprises in Italy and Europe. The site includes a sorter capable of handling up to three thousand items per hour and offers 88 external charging columns for electric vehicles.
In addition to the warehouse, the Rho platform features three office floors comprising various modular workstations, meeting rooms, spaces dedicated to sharing and creativity, and areas designed for rest and relaxation. This facility is part of a larger 360 million euro investment plan by DHL scheduled for the 2023-2026 period.
During the inauguration, Graziano Fumarola, Chief Operation Officer & Procurement of Ancorotti, formalized a partnership with DHL for the Go Green Plus service, which aims to reduce emissions in the logistics chain. This service allows for voluntary emission reporting by DHL clients, adhering to the principles of the Science Based Target Initiative. It enables companies to offset carbon emissions associated with their shipments using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a biofuel made from renewable sources such as vegetable oils, animal fats, waste products, and crops. SAF is designed to replace traditional jet fuel and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil fuels.
