At the end of May 2024, DHL unveiled its first Center of Excellence for Electric Vehicles in Continental Europe at the logistics platform in Pozzuolo Martesana, near Milan. The facility spans 10,000 square meters and aims to support the logistics related to electric vehicles in both the Italian and international markets. It provides comprehensive solutions for the entire supply chain, from component supply to vehicle delivery and post-sale logistical support.
The center is managed by DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express, and through collaboration with the DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation EV Team, it leverages DHL Global Forwarding’s warehousing and freight management capabilities, including sea and air transport. Additionally, DHL Express offers a global distribution network solution.
The Center of Excellence for Electric Vehicles handles inbound and outbound logistics using various modes of transport and offers value-added warehouse services such as battery testing and charging, as well as complete post-sale battery management, including storage, charging, warranty service, replacement, and dismantling. Beyond these benefits, customers can take advantage of a European network compliant with LiBa.
The facility boasts extensive energy storage capabilities and offers specialized services for two-wheeled vehicles, with temperature and humidity-controlled rooms for general and hazardous materials. The services are managed by teams trained in the electric vehicle sector, and for air transport needs, customers can rely on IATA CEIV-certified teams.
