The growth of combined road-rail and road-sea transport hinges on making these options accessible to small and medium enterprises, which often lack the resources to manage the complexities of intermodal logistics. Infogestweb Golia 360 aims to bridge this gap with its new telematics platform, Emma (European Multi-Modal App), which was introduced in late November 2024. "We want to create a digital system that makes access to intermodal transport easier," says Claudio Carrano, CEO of Infogestweb Golia 360. Essentially, Emma connects providers of intermodal rail or maritime transport with trucking companies seeking to use these services.
Emma's initial focus is on rail intermodality, with plans to expand into maritime and air transport. The first service available is a rail connection operated by GN Logistics between the Abruzzo Interport in Manoppello, Pescara, and Parma. As more Multimodal Transport Operators join, the platform will expand its national and international service offerings. MTOs and carriers can list their available rail and maritime transport services on the platform, which can then be accessed by potential clients. Users can register for free, and existing Golia 360 service customers can access it immediately.
In addition to viewing the availability of trains and roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) services, users can book trips, even for individual load units, track them, and access supplementary services such as insurance, legal advice, and the rental of loading units. Through the Golia 360 platform, users can also book traction transport to and from the intermodal terminal where the train starts or ends its journey. All of this can be done through a single, streamlined transaction, making the process simple and immediate.
