According to data from ACEA, EU commercial vehicle sales (with a total mass of up to 3.5 tons) rose by 8.5%, reaching 1,170,310 units. This positive outcome was driven by major markets, led by Spain (+16.7%), followed by Germany (+8.2%), Italy (+7.3%), and France (+5.8%). However, electric vehicle traction showed signs of deceleration: electric van sales fell by 12.8%, accounting for only 5.7% of the market, down from 7.1% in the previous year. Sales of hybrid-electric vehicles also declined by 4.3%, making up just 2% of the market.
The industrial vehicle segment faced challenges, with an overall decline of 7.5% and total registrations of 249,708 units. The heaviest drop was seen in the heavy vehicle category (-9.5%), while medium vehicles recorded a slight increase of 3%. Performance varied across markets: Spain (+12%) and Italy (+2.1%) posted positive results, while Germany (-7%) and France (-4.3%) contributed to the overall decline.
Diesel trucks remained dominant, representing 95.3% of registrations despite a 7.3% decrease. Registrations of electric trucks saw a 6.6% decline, maintaining a steady 2.2% market share. The performance of electric vehicles showed mixed results: Germany posted notable growth (+56.8%), as did Denmark (+22.3%), but these gains were offset by sharp declines in France (-58.4%) and the Netherlands (-52.7%).
