Eva Air, along with Evergreen Airline Services and Evergreen Air Cargo Services, has secured the CEIV (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators) certification from IATA for the air transport of lithium batteries. Eva Air is the first airline in Taiwan to achieve this dual certification for both passenger and cargo operations. Lithium batteries pose specific risks that require stringent safety measures. To address this challenge, Eva Air and its affiliates have implemented advanced operational protocols incorporating specialised training, risk management, and quality control, in full compliance with international regulations.
The CEIV certification obtained by Eva Air encompasses all aspects of passenger, cargo, and ground handling operations. In the passenger sector, stringent baggage controls have been introduced, along with emergency management training programmes for pilots and cabin crew, and advanced fire suppression systems on aircraft. Regarding cargo transport, the programme enhances the storage, handling, and shipment of consignments containing lithium batteries, ensuring compliance with the highest safety standards set by IATA. These operational standards significantly reduce the risks associated with lithium battery transportation and ensure a high level of reliability in shipments.
Eva Air has achieved CEIV certification for lithium batteries with a "zero defects" standard. This recognition adds to the CEIV Pharma certifications obtained in 2021 and 2024 for pharmaceutical cold chain transport, making Eva Air the first airline in Taiwan to hold both certifications.
