Lithuanian transportation giant Girteka is taking another step towards digitalization by replacing credit cards with a smartphone application for fuel purchases, empowering its more than 6,000 truck drivers. According to the company, this move simplifies the refueling process and enhances operational security. The new system is based on the Fleethand solution.
How does it work in practice? When drivers arrive at a designated service station—identified during route planning, such as Circle K or Shell—they simply enter the pump number into their Fleethand mobile app, and the refueling process starts automatically. There’s no need for any confirmation, code, PIN, or odometer reading. All that’s required is the company-issued mobile phone with the Fleethand app. This innovation reduces the risks associated with physical fuel cards and allows drivers to spend less time on administrative tasks.
