Gruber Logistics has officially entered the Middle Eastern transportation market with the inauguration of its first regional branch in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The new office, led by Carsten Sommer—Executive Director of the Project Cargo, Air & Ocean Business Unit—and Samar Helmy, will act as a central hub for the local market, focusing on expanding business relations and developing new opportunities in the region.
The company chose Dubai as it allows better management of import and export activities for their clients, not only in the UAE but also in neighboring countries. The new office aims to become a reference point for project cargo, air, and sea transport services, with the prospect of further expanding service offerings in the future.
As part of its growth plan, the company intends to hire new employees by the end of the year to support anticipated business expansion. In line with Gruber Logistics' Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, priority will be given to hiring local candidates, who will be trained and qualified within the company.
Another notable aspect is the appointment of Samar Helmy, the first woman of Arab descent to hold an executive position at the company. “Not only do her Egyptian roots make her ideal for the role, but more importantly, her nearly two decades of experience in logistics, shipping, business development, and her training in organizational leadership at Harvard make her the perfect candidate for the new responsibilities in the Middle Eastern office,” emphasized Carsten Sommer.
Samar Helmy added, “With our presence in Dubai, we are embedding our innovative logistics services even more firmly in this region. This economically dynamic area has a strong focus on digitalization and sustainability, and we are well-equipped to meet these client requirements as we have been pioneers in these areas for years.”
