A new transport and logistics provider is emerging in Verona: GTS Horizon. The initiative stems from a collaboration between the Apulian railway company GTS and Simone Gatto De Chirico. This partnership took shape in early 2024 with the launch of the Bari-Verona rail route, which quickly reported significant traffic volumes. The new company, headquartered at Verona’s Interporto logistics hub, aims to address a critical need in the industrial fabric of the Triveneto region: the lack of an operator capable of offering end-to-end logistics solutions directly on-site.
However, the initiative extends beyond serving the Triveneto region (Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia), in Nord-East of Italy. GTS Horizon seeks to provide an integrated and sustainable offering. The company aims to become a single point of contact to manage every phase of the logistics chain, from rail transport to distribution, including warehousing, road, maritime, air freight, and customs services. “Whether it’s an export requiring customs services for the UK, shipping two pallets from Bari to Milan, importing goods from China, or exporting to the United States, we are here to help,” explains Simone Gatto De Chirico, co-founder of the company.
He adds, “GTS Horizon was created to fill a gap in the market. Our goal is to provide clients not only with the necessary equipment and sustainable rail routes but also complementary services such as distribution, warehousing, and multimodal transport. All of this is driven by a vision focused on sustainability and service continuity.”
The objectives for 2025 are ambitious and aim to position GTS Horizon as a leader in intermodal transport. “We will invest in rail and maritime intermodality, offering groupage services as well as full and partial load transport. Additionally, we will explore road transport solutions powered by alternative technologies to further reduce environmental impact,” De Chirico notes.
The creation of GTS Horizon continues the expansion trajectory of the Apulian group. In 2024, GTS partnered with the French shipping company CMA CGM to establish European Container Network, a company offering transport and logistics services across Europe. In Italy, GTS is expanding container transport from Ligurian ports to Northern Italy. Also in 2024, the company launched a rail service connecting Bari and Nola terminals.
