On 17 February 2025, Gts Group Spa, an intermodal operator led by the Muciaccia family, will commence operations at its inaugural customs warehouse in Bari. This move aims to enhance the logistics activities carried out by Gtx Next, focusing particularly on import shipments.Giannico Lucivero, the sole director of Gts Next, highlights the investments made: "We have invested in professionalism and innovation, as well as in assets (in 2024, a 10,000 square metre warehouse in Bari), which has yielded positive results. In 2024, we recorded a revenue growth exceeding 23% and a 35% increase in new client acquisitions."
Regarding the new customs warehouse, Lucivero explains that "the strategic location in the industrial zone places us close to the airport, port, and ring road exit. In our region, we are among the few entities capable of managing goods from foreign countries, offering, on a single platform, customs services, integrated logistics management, and distribution to both domestic and international markets, directly overseeing every single aspect."
Maurizio Fasulo, head of customs affairs at Overseas and Customs, announces further developments: "The new warehouse will soon be expanded with a tax warehouse for VAT purposes, a facility that allows the deferral of tax payment until the extraction of imported goods. These goods can thus be stored in a foreign state, suspended from duties, remaining negotiable while awaiting delivery to another warehouse or final destination."Fasulo also emphasises the importance of infrastructure supporting intermodal transport: "Infrastructure supporting the various stages of intermodal transport, such as customs warehouses, can be crucial. One of the most ambitious goals? To activate other types of tax warehouses to attract products and goods that are currently not directly imported into the southern territory due to complex customs procedures."
