H.Essers is expanding its presence in the French market for temperature-controlled transport of healthcare and food products with the acquisition of Transports Frigorifiques des Monts d’Or. Founded in 1962 by Paul Guerpillon and currently led by Franck Guerpillon, the company is based in Lyon, employs around two hundred people, and operates a fleet of 152 refrigerated industrial vehicles. In 2023, Tfmo reported a turnover of 33.1 million euros.
In a statement, H.Essers explained, “The acquisition of Tfmo aligns perfectly with H.Essers’ growth strategy, allowing the logistics company to expand its presence in France by partnering with a well-established local market player. Additionally, Tfmo’s strategic location offers opportunities for sustainable international transport. This acquisition fits H.Essers’ asset-based approach, which involves further investment in its personnel and equipment to increase capacity. Furthermore, both family-run companies share the same values and culture, which was a significant factor for both parties.”
Christopher Van den Daele, COO Transport at H.Essers, added, “This acquisition also opens the door to exciting opportunities, such as adding our healthcare cross-dock and expanding our LTL concept. It aligns perfectly with our ambition to expand our presence in Europe and complements our previous acquisition of Romano Trasporti in Italy last year.” The parties did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.
