At the IAA 2024 in Hannover, Turkey emerged as the second country with the highest participation, trailing only China. The presence of a wide range of Turkish builders such as Seyt Usta, Orthaus, Oztreyler, Star, EIfemmak, Okz, Brf, Yalcin, Kolumam, Adakon, Sinan, Sahin Tanker, Ozgul, Nursan, Alim, and Uztreiler provided an opportunity to assess the growth of these vehicles' imports into Italy. These manufacturers showcased a comprehensive range of applications, including container carriers, powder and liquid tankers, tippers, low loaders from two to eight axles, mixers, concrete pumps, and car carriers, highlighting the diversity of the Turkish offering in the trailer sector.
Some of these brands are now well established in Italy, thanks to collaborations with companies such as Florence-based One Trailer, led by Iacopo Giop, and Piedmont's Okz Trailer, run by Adamo Oksuz. These groups boast production capacities that, in some cases, exceed one thousand units per year, with export networks reaching Russian, French, African, and even British markets. The Turkish industry in Italy is represented by around fifteen brands. According to ANFIA data, the leading brands by sales are Serin, Inde, Vega, Ozgul, and Seyit, with over 300 vehicles registered by September 2024.
"In Italy, the most important market is container carriers," explains Iacopo Giop of One Trailer. "These are structurally simpler vehicles, mostly with mechanical extensions, which suit the working conditions at port docks." In general, Turkish semi-trailers are made from aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel, utilizing accessories supplied by major European manufacturers of axles, control units, landing gears, and toolbox kits. Another strength lies in their competitive pricing and reduced delivery times.
The second sector experiencing significant growth is construction low loaders, driven by infrastructure projects promoted by the European Union and current governments, which have increased the short-term demand for specialized vehicles. Moreover, Turkey has forged partnerships with some European bodybuilders for the design of container carriers and tankers, often sold under German brands, further consolidating its market position.
