The Italian labour market is starting 2025 with a mix of complex dynamics and promising opportunities. According to the Excelsior Information System Bulletin, produced by Unioncamere and the Ministry of Labour, a total of 497,000 job openings are projected for January, with over 1.4 million anticipated in the first quarter of the year. Among the standout sectors, transport, logistics, and warehousing services play a prominent role. In this sector, 26.3% of planned new hires are expected to involve immigrant workers, underscoring the critical role of foreign labour in these operations. Logistics is thus among the industries with the highest reliance on foreign workers, alongside operational services and metallurgical industries.
The demand for logistics and transport roles spans a wide range of positions. The largest share—30,170 openings—is for unskilled personnel involved in goods handling and delivery, with a recruitment difficulty rate of 37.2%. Next are vehicle operators and machinery handlers, with 23,850 new hires expected, a category facing an even higher recruitment difficulty rate of 58.3%. Finally, administrative roles in logistics management account for 5,550 new positions, focused on coordinating and optimising logistics activities, with a recruitment difficulty rate of 34%.
