The Dhl logistics hub in Monticelli experienced a second criminal attack following the violent incident that took place on the night of November 2, 2024, when a paramilitary gang stole goods worth approximately one million euros. The second incident, while considerably less violent, represented a severe blow to the facility's security system. During the night of November 10 to 11, three trucks arrived at the gates of the facility, gaining entry in what appeared to be a regular procedure by presenting transportation documents.
Once inside the yard, the vehicles hitched up trailers loaded with electronic devices and left the premises, again appearing to follow regular protocol. However, their documents were falsified, and the articulated trucks, along with their cargo, have since vanished without a trace. Staff at the facility realized the fraud when, a couple of hours later, the actual truck drivers arrived. An initial estimate of the theft suggests a loss of around one hundred thousand euros. The Carabinieri are currently investigating, but it has become increasingly apparent that someone within the logistics center is providing robbers and thieves with information on shipments, as well as the layout of pallets and trailers carrying the most valuable goods.
