At the Bauma 2025 trade fair in Munich, Mercedes-Benz Trucks presented the eArocs 400 in a world premiere, a fully electric truck developed for heavy-duty applications in construction and quarry transport. With this launch, the German manufacturer aims to extend electrification into the construction sector, an area that has so far remained largely untouched by the energy transition. Orders for this model will open in the first quarter of 2026, with initial deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of the same year. It will initially be produced in a limited series of 150 units per year, targeting the main European markets.
With a gross vehicle weight of 32 or 41 tonnes and an 8x4 configuration, the new eArocs 400 will be available as a concrete mixer or a construction tipper. Thanks to its fully electric powertrain, the truck operates with zero local emissions and at an exceptionally low noise level, making it ideal for work in historic centres, residential areas, hospitals, schools or night-time construction sites.
The Arocs 400 is powered by a central electric motor delivering 380 kW of continuous power and a peak output of 450 kW, paired with a three-speed gearbox. Energy comes from two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs with a total capacity of 414 kWh, housed in a battery tower located behind the cab. The range reaches up to 200 kilometres for the mixer version and up to 240 kilometres for the tipper, more than adequate for most single-shift operations and daily routes under one hundred kilometres.
For charging, the vehicle features a CCS2 port on both sides and supports fast charging up to 400 kW. Recharging from 20 to 80 per cent takes approximately 45 minutes, allowing for quick stops even on the most demanding construction sites. Mercedes-Benz is calling on public institutions to accelerate the development of suitable charging infrastructure to ensure the widespread and sustainable deployment of these vehicles.
On board the eArocs 400 is the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 system, which includes a 12-inch display, advanced touchscreen functionality and voice controls. Features such as auxiliary drives can now be accessed directly through a favourites menu, simplifying operation even on rough terrain. Safety is ensured by next-generation assistance systems, including Active Brake Assist 6, Active Sideguard Assist 2 and Front Guard Assist. These systems comply with, and in some cases exceed, the requirements of the European General Safety Regulation, helping drivers to prevent accidents linked to fatigue, stress or distraction.
To withstand the demands of construction environments, the eArocs 400 is equipped with a reinforced chassis, steel suspension, tandem axles with optional planetary reduction gearsets, a three-part bumper with metal corners, headlamp guards and rear lights housed in a metal frame. The M-cab is galvanised and features washable interiors.
At Bauma 2025, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is showcasing the new vehicle with various configurations, including the Liebherr HTM 905 concrete mixer with a nominal capacity of 9 cubic metres and hydraulics powered by the truck’s batteries, and an all-new version with a fully electric E10 mixing drum by Cifa and Zoomlion, boasting a capacity of 10 cubic metres and a total weight of up to 44 tonnes. A second tipper version with a Meiller body is also on display.
