In a significant move marking the end of 2023, the Belgian intermodal company, Move Intermodal, announced its acquisition of the Dutch firm Van Dijk Logistics, a specialist in transport between the Netherlands and Italy. The integration into the Belgian group, completed in late December, promises to offer a comprehensive range of intermodal transport solutions, encompassing dry bulk, packed cargo, and partial loads. This acquisition is rooted in the complementary nature of the two companies' services.
For over thirty years, Move Intermodal and Van Dijk Logistics have shared a history in intermodal transport between Italy and the Benelux/Ruhr region. John van Dijk, the former owner of Van Dijk Logistics, expressed his enthusiasm about the merger, stating, "We are delighted to join the Move Group. The synergy created by our companies’ complementarity benefits our customers. Merging our expertise in partial loads with Move Intermodal's strong position in full loads, dry bulk, and forwarding operations is a winning combination.”
The companies have affirmed their commitment to operating autonomously within the Move Group while preserving their unique identities. This approach ensures the continuation of both firms' operational styles and the employment of all staff and management from Van Dijk Logistics in the Netherlands and Italy. With 300 employees across eight countries, Move Intermodal is dedicated to advancing sustainable transport sector development. The company operates with 2,800 loading units, 180 owned industrial vehicles, and 60 block trains per week.
Van Dijk Logistics, with a legacy of over eighty years in the transport sector, has specialized for thirty years in transport between Italy and the Netherlands, focusing particularly on partial loads. Operating from its bases in Venray (the Netherlands) and Mortara (Italy), the firm's fifty employees manage the transport and handling of a wide variety of goods, involving daily operations with 140 intermodal loading units and 22 owned industrial vehicles.
