The MSC Group is enhancing its logistics activities in Italy with the acquisition of Milan-based MVN, announced on November 14, 2024, through its subsidiary Medlog Holding Italia. MVN can manage the entire end-to-end logistics process, including collection and storage of goods, feeding production lines, outbound logistics, industrial packaging management, transportation, and shipments. MVN also performs high value-added processing activities.
With this acquisition, the MSC Group has created the new Industrial Logistics Solutions division, leveraging MVN's expertise in industrial logistics to coordinate new supply chain synergies. This will enable integrated logistics solutions for businesses, encompassing sea transportation with MSC, air freight with MSC Air Cargo, as well as rail and road transport provided by Medlog. In doing so, MSC positions itself as the only operator capable of delivering a comprehensive logistics service package on a global scale.
This acquisition also marks MSC's entry into the integrated industrial logistics sector, a rapidly expanding market segment that requires specific and efficient capabilities to support growth, with a projected turnover of 83 billion euros in the European Union alone by 2026. MVN's management will remain unchanged, with Enrico Bazzi confirmed as president and Claudio Gervasoni as CEO. Under their leadership, the Milan-based company achieved over 50 million euros in revenue in 2023, fueled by significant contracts with international operators. Projections for 2024 indicate sales volumes of around 100 million euros.
MVN is headquartered in Milan and has a network of twenty-one logistics centers across Italy, covering a total surface area of over one and a half million square meters and employing more than 500 people. Although deeply rooted in Italy, the company operates globally, with future expansions planned in France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia.
Giuseppe Prudente, Chief Logistics Officer of MSC and president of Medlog, emphasized the importance of adapting to a constantly evolving market: "The market environment is continuously changing, and therefore it is crucial to have a focused medium to long-term strategy to ensure service efficiency and multimodality. Pursuing this objective, the MSC Group has recently carried out significant initiatives aimed at expanding its fleet of vessels and making subsequent rail and road connections smoother, faster, and more sustainable. Together, we can make a difference."
Federico Pittaluga, CEO of Medlog Holding Italia, highlighted the strategic value of the acquisition: "This allows us to further extend the MSC Group's reach by integrating specialized expertise and strategic resources to offer increasingly comprehensive and competitive logistics solutions. We decided to embark on a new journey together with MVN, confirming the current management, which has performed exceptionally well in recent years."
