On June 28, 2024, a new maritime feeder service for dry and refeer containers will begin, linking the ports of El Dekheila (Alexandria, Egypt), Piraeus, and Algiers on a weekly basis. This service will be operated by the Tarros Group and Diamond Line, a subsidiary of Cosco Shipping Europe, each deploying a 1,000 TEU vessel on this route. The primary goal of this service, named Pae, is to "offer Egyptian exporters a direct and reliable service to Greece and Algeria," as stated by Tarros in a press release. It also notes that "Greek shippers will have access to a new express connection to Algiers."
The first departure will take place on June 28 from El Dekheila with the vessel Contship Ivy, which will arrive in Algiers on July 4. Danilo Ricci, general manager of Tarros, remarked, "This new collaboration will allow us to add a new market segment to our services. The new route will directly connect Egypt and Greece to Algeria and vice versa for the first time. It represents a new opportunity for the Tarros Group to strengthen its presence in the Mediterranean with quality services."
Hu Hua, CEO of Diamond Line, added, "The new Pae service will further strengthen Diamond Line's network in the Mediterranean, particularly in the Maghreb region. Cosco Shipping and Diamond Line have a serious ambition to grow in North African markets to support their businesses and local economies. With around six million inhabitants, the metropolitan area of Algiers has significant economic prospects and will benefit from our new service. Pae will fill a missing link and provide our customers with access to Cosco Shipping's 'three networks': water transport, rail transport, and warehousing and distribution network."
