The Dutch manufacturer of trailer vehicles, D-Tec, collaborated with Den Hartogh Logistics—a logistics company specialising in the transport of liquid food and chemical products—to create a semi-trailer that prioritises safety and cost efficiency. To achieve these goals, the designers focused on improving the rear access area of the semi-trailer, paying particular attention to the bumper and walking platform design to ensure safer and easier access for drivers.
Further enhancements were made to the vehicle's lighting system, with additional lights installed to improve visibility during operations in low-light conditions. Critical components were also repositioned to minimise the risk of damage, contributing to lower maintenance costs. Another significant innovation is the integration of a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), designed to improve operational efficiency. Despite these upgrades, the container carrier maintains a low tare weight, thereby increasing its payload capacity.
Den Hartogh Logistics is set to receive the first units of the new semi-trailer in November 2024. Founded in 1921, the company is a giant in the sector, operating in 58 locations across 28 countries. With over 2,700 employees, Den Hartogh manages more than 25,000 tank containers, 5,000 dry bulk containers, 575 tank trailers, and 900 industrial vehicles.
