Logicor and Kryalos purchase site in Pomezia for new logistics hub
Logicor and Kryalos Sgr have announced the acquisition of a site of over 54,000 square metres in Pomezia, near Rome, for an urban regeneration project. Led by Logicor, the initiative involves the demolition of a disused building and the construction of a logistics warehouse of approximately 20,000 square metres, built according to Breeam Excellent sustainability standards. The site, acquired from the Mazer fund managed by Kryalos Sgr, is located on Via della Solfatara in a strategic position just a few kilometres from the Pontina road, the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road and Fiumicino airport.
Cma Cgm set to acquire Air Belgium Cargo
Cma Cgm has confirmed its intention to acquire Air Belgium’s cargo operations, following a court decision approving its offer. The airline, currently insolvent, had also drawn interest from Air One and Dutch group Peso Aviation, whose proposal was ultimately rejected for missing the required deadlines.
Gemini service lands at Vado Gateway
The container transport alliance known as hashtag Gemini has made its debut at the Vado Gateway terminal in Savona, with the arrival of the Maersk Memphis, the first vessel of the TA6 service operated jointly by Hapag Lloyd and Maersk. The route connects the Ligurian port with North America on a weekly basis. During this operational stop, the terminal achieved 32 crane moves per hour (Cmph), marking a 50% reduction in handling time compared to standard levels.
NovaMar Logistic is born: a joint venture for steel logistics
Marcegaglia and Nova Marine Carriers have announced the creation of NovaMar Logistic, a new joint venture developed with the support of OD Shipping. The initiative strengthens the collaboration between the two companies and marks a strategic step forward in maritime logistics for the steel industry. NovaMar Logistic will manage the SiderLuck vessel (26,300 dwt), optimising cabotage routes in Europe and linking raw material ports with key production sites such as Ravenna and Fos-sur-Mer.
Qair opens its first hydrogen station in France
Qair, an independent European company in the renewable energy sector, has announced the construction of its first hydrogen refuelling station in France. Located in Béziers, within the Méridienne economic zone, the station will be operational by the end of the year and capable of supplying up to 600 kilograms of renewable hydrogen per day, mainly serving the local fleet of public buses. The facility will be powered by Hyd’Occ, the largest renewable hydrogen production plant in France, currently under construction in Port-La Nouvelle. The project is part of the Corridor H2 initiative, supported by the Occitanie Region, the European Investment Bank and the European Union through the Cef programme. Qair is also expanding its hydrogen network in Iceland, with the Blær project and a 2 MW plant in Grundartangi.
Circle Group launches predictive system for ro-ro terminals
Circle has announced the development of a new predictive system designed to enhance operations at ro-ro maritime terminals. The system, which uses advanced models such as Knn and Deep Neural Networks, estimates trailer dwell times by processing both historical and real-time data. The aim is to reduce waiting times, improve planning and cut operating costs. The project is part of the Connect 4 Agile Growth plan and is aimed at creating an increasingly integrated digital ecosystem for efficient and sustainable port logistics.
Spedition Gschwander goes electric with the eActros 600
Spedition Gschwander, a company involved in bulk goods transport since 1969, is leaving diesel behind and opting for a fully electric transition with no intermediate steps. The family-run business, managed by Andreas August and Andreas Gschwander, has added four new eActros 600 vehicles from Mercedes-Benz Trucks to its fleet. “We want 100% climate-neutral transport,” says Simon Gschwander, project lead. With around seventy Mercedes-Benz vehicles out of a fleet of 180, the long-standing partnership has now reached a green milestone. The new lorries were delivered in December at the Wörth am Rhein plant.
